VISIT OF H.B. SAWA AT THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA His Beatitude Petros VII, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria
and All Africa invited His Beatitude Sawa, Metropolitan of Warsaw and All
Poland, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Poland to visit officially the Greek
Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa, between February 6th
to 14th, 2003.
The Doxology service for his arrival will take place on
Friday 7th, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Patriarchal Church of St. Savva in
Alexandria. During his stay in Egypt the Head of the Orthodox Church of Poland
will preside the following services at the Patriarchal Church:
Vespers: Saturday, February 8th, 2003 at 6 p.m.
Matins & Concelebration of the Divine Liturgy with H.B.
Petros VII, Sunday, February 9th, 2003 at 8.30 a.m.
His Beatitude’s itinerary also includes the following
venues:
a)
In Alexandria: visits at the Holy Church of the Annunciation; Dormition
of the Theotokos (Arab speaking Orthodox Community); the Patriarchal Palace
(under reconstruction); the Hellenic square in Shatby; the Library; the Greek
Roman Museum; and the Greek Roman Theatre.
b)
In Cairo: the Patriarchal Church of St. Nicholas; the Patriarchal
Vicariate; the Holy Monastery of St. George in Old Cairo; the Holy Church of
Archangels (Arab speaking Orthodox parish); the Holy Church of St’s
Constantine & Helen; the Giza Pyramids; and the Museum.
Metropolitan Sawa will also meet with the Governor of
Alexandria; and the Patriarch of the Coptic Church. The Greek communities of
Alexandria and Cairo and the Ambassador of Poland will host banquets in honor of
him.
His Beatitude’s entourage includes H.G. Jacob, Bishop of
Bialystok and Gdansk; Archimandrite George Pankowski; and Protodeacon Markos
Kiryluk.

mark the occasion of the 6th anniversary of His Beatitude Petros VII as Pope and
Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, a Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at
the Holy Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Savvas in Alexandria on Friday, February
21st, 2003. ‘Orthros’/Matins
followed by a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy will commence at 8:30 am. From
