THE KENYAN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AT THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA On Saturday, August 16th, 2003, Mr. Steven Kalonzo Musyoka, Kenya's Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited His Beatitude Petros VII, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa at the Patriarchal Office temporary located at the Holy Monastery of St. Savvas. The Minister, a long time friend of the Patriarch, is a supporter of the Patriarchate's missionary work and an admirer of the Hellenistic tradition. During the meeting Mr. Musyoka briefed His Beatitude on the political situation in Kenya, the Sudan peace initiative and referred to the Patriarchate's assistance in Kenya's social problems. Mr. Musyoka expressed his gratitude for the great support that Kenya receives from the Cypriot Association for the Fight Against the Plague of Hunger, of which H.E. Chrysostomos, Metropolitan of Kition, is the President. His Beatitude thanked Mr. Musyoka for the support that the Patriarchate receives from the Kenyan government and wished him every success in his duties as Kenya's Minister of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Musyoka pledged to resolve the various problems that hinder the Orthodox Church in Kenya as soon as possible and reaffirmed his ceaseless support towards the Patriarchate. Later, the Patriarch hosted a dinner in honor of the Minister and his entourage.
