STATEMENT OF HIS BEATITUDE PETROS VII, POPE & PATRIARCH OF ALEXANDRIA & ALL AFRICA REGARDING THE CRISIS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Over the past days we have been following the conflict that has been occurring in the Middle East. Unfortunately all attempts to intervene have yielded no positive results. We express our deep grief for all the men, women and children who are suffering, tortured and killed on a daily basis. Let us all be united and boldly voice our condemnation of these acts of violence so that there is an immediate stop to the bloodshed.

Together we all protest against injustice. All human beings have an equal right to live freely in their own land. All human beings have an equal right to live in happiness with their own families and with their own children. All human beings have an equal right to live in peace and love so that they may enjoy life and its gifts granted by God.

We condemn massacres, violence, terrorism and wars.

We pray to God, Who is our only hope, to help this conflict find its resolution so that peace and true freedom may reign in the whole world.
