1968          (May 10) – Election of Nicholas VI as Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa. Enthronement in Alexandria on 19th May and in Cairo on 26th May

1968          On June 27 Representatives from the Vatican on a visit to Patriarch Nicholas, gave him a reliquary containing part of the relics of the Apostle and Evangelist Mark from his relics housed in Venice on behalf of His Holiness Paul VI, Pope of Rome
